LCEC announced that it will provide Friends of Fakahatchee with a $2,500 environmental funding award to help with their mission to preserve the unique ecology and cultural heritage of Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park and educate the public to its importance. Specifically, this funding award will aid in the transformation of the visitors center into an environment that will create an interactive learning experience inspiring curiosity while instilling a sense of responsibility to preserve the unique and fragile habitat of the largest State Park in Florida.
To apply for this award, organizations can email firstname.lastname@example.org to receive an application. The next application deadline for a 2017 award is September 1, 2017. Interested organizations must meet certain criteria to be considered for the award including being located within LCEC service territory, funding utilized for projects/programs related to the environment and the utility industry, and having a demonstrated need for funds. This funding award is just one of the many ways that LCEC positively impacts and supports wildlife and the environment.
