Christmas tree dos and don’ts

December 15, 2021 – You have trimmed your tree and the countdown is on until Santa puts presents underneath. With so much happening during the holidays it is essential to keep the following dos and don’ts in mind for your Christmas tree to both save on electricity and keep you and your family safe:

  • Do water your tree often.
  • Do keep an eye on the lights and cords. Should you notice any damage or issues, remove the lights and cord immediately, and replace with a new set.

  • Don’t leave your Christmas tree on for prolonged periods of time, especially overnight. Not only will keeping the tree lights on add to your electric bill, but it could cause a fire if your tree is overly dry.
  • Don’t overload your electrical outlets. Pay attention to safety instructions on your lights.
