LCEC Partners with CoBank and No Barriers Program for Veterans with Disabilities

LCEC is honored to be partnering with CoBank and the No Barriers Program for veterans with disabilities. Through this partnership, we are honoring veterans by supporting a series of No Barriers Warriors expeditions. LCEC is looking for eligible veterans with a disability to be considered for participation. CoBank is funding all costs to the first 50 selected nominees who meet the program requirements and one of them will come from the LCEC service territory!

No Barriers was co-founded by Erik Weihenmayer, an internationally renowned mountain climber and the only blind person in history to reach the summit of Mt. Everest. “Through the Warriors program, No Barriers has been working with veterans with disabilities for years,” said Weihenmayer. “We’ve seen the transformation that takes place when veterans are able to overcome the mental and physical challenges involved in one of our expeditions, and then apply the skills they’ve learned to the challenges faced in their day-to-day lives.”

LCEC is seeking the assistance of our community to seek out eligible nominees for the No Barriers Warriors expedition. An informational flier and a nomination form can be found at https://www.lcec.net/about-lcec/community-and-education or call 239-656-2202. LCEC thanks in advance all those who help with this exciting initiative!
