LCEC Employees Complete 100 Mile Challenge

LCEC is on a mission to fight America’s number one killer, heart disease. This mission led LCEC to establish the 100 Mile Challenge as part of the American Heart Association’s (AHA) movement to get all Americans walking. 26 teams of LCEC employees competed in the challenge of walking 100 miles in four weeks. In total, these 78 employees logged:

–8,777 miles
–60,689 minutes of activity
–1,791,560 steps

“We were thrilled to have 100 percent of our top leadership support and participate in this challenge,” Human Resources Analyst and 100 Mile Challenge Coordinator Jen McClain said. Incentives for this challenge included a challenge t-shirt for all participants who logged at least 10 miles by the end of week two. All teams whose participants logged at least 100 miles during the four week challenge were entered into a drawing for a fit bit for each team member.

LCEC’s 100 Mile Challenge was done using the AHA’s website for “online activity.” Wellness is a huge part of LCEC’s culture. From weight loss challenges to onsite nutrition counseling and fitness classes, LCEC provides a myriad of opportunities for employees to live healthy lifestyles. Along with being honored for its ongoing wellness initiative, LCEC works in the community to spread the message of wellness. LCEC’s CEO Dennie Hamilton is this year’s AHA Heart Walk Chair for Lee County.
