Mr. Scott has been an LCEC Board member since 2001. He serves as the chair of the LCEC Engineering and Operations committee. Originally from Kentucky, David and his wife, Susan, have been residents of Cape Coral and members of LCEC since 1993.

He is a consulting geologist specializing in petroleum, coal and natural gas, geodetic mapping and services. He earned his bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of Kentucky and was recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus of the University of Kentucky Department of Geological Sciences in 2012. He is past chair of the Kentucky Board of Registration for Professional Geologists and a member of the Florida Section of the American Institute of Professional Geologists. In addition, he managed several multi-million-dollar exploration and development projects in foreign and domestic settings. Mr. Scott has had exposure to the fossil fuel industry for 35 years.

He is past president of the Rotary Club of Cape Coral and past chair of the Rotary Club of Cape Coral International Service Projects and past president of the Rotary Club of Cape Coral Foundation. Mr. Scott is also the past chair of the Cape Coral Police North West Cape Sub Council and is a current board member of Keep Lee County Beautiful, Inc. (KLCB). He is a past member of the Citizens Advisory Committee to the Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization. He is a founding president and member of the NW Cape Coral Neighborhood Association, Inc. and a former member of the Cape Coral Water Resources Advisory Board. In addition, he is a life member and past president of Friends of the Charlotte Harbor Aquatic Preserves. Mr. Scott is involved in ongoing grant-assisted mangrove research and restoration projects in Charlotte and Lee counties. He provides on-going technical advice and is on the advisory committee of the North Spreader Ecosystem Management Agreement consent order modification. He has been the North Cape site coordinator for the KLCB Trash Bash since 1997 and KLCB2015 1st annual “Mangrove Mania” 10,000 red mangrove planting organizer.
