Service Standards for Engineering and Construction Work Requests
Order Type Definition Engineering Service Level Operations Service Level Process
New Service "Quick Serve" New service for single-family residence with overhead services where electric facilities exist. The existing transformer may be adequate, or a new or additional transformer may be needed.
Government inspection required.
5 calendar days from receipt of job from Customer Service department. 19 calendar days from the engineering release date or the government inspection receipt. 1. Customer applies for new service on detailed order form through LCEC's builder account representatives.
2. Job definition is verified by LCEC Engineering department.
3. If truly a "Quick Serve" job, it is designed by an LCEC Distribution Design Assistant.
4. Job released to LCEC Operations department.
5. LCEC Operations determines if government inspection has been received. Job cannot be worked until the inspection is received.
6. Operations schedules and constructs job to service standard.
Other New Service New residential or commercial service where either:
1) the permanent service is to be underground and requires an overhead T-Pole during construction, or
2) the permanent service is to be overhead where no electric facilities exist, but a primary extension is not required.
Note: TOPS and TUGS are also "Other New Service" jobs.
Government inspection required.
30 calendar days from receipt of job from Customer Service department. 27 calendar days from the engineering release date or the government inspection receipt. 1. Customer applies for new service through builder account representatives.
2. Job is verified by LCEC Engineering department.
3. If designated as an "Other New Service" job, it is designed by an LCEC Distribution Designer.
4. Designer determines if permits easements, or Contribution in Aid of Construction (CIAC) are needed.
5. Once permits, easements and CIAC are received, the job is released to Operations.
6. Operations determines if government inspection has been received. Job cannot be worked until the inspection is received.
7. Operations schedules and constructs job to service standard.
Temporary to Permanent Underground An existing temporary new service to be replaced by a permanent underground service.
Government inspection required.
15 calendar days from receipt of job from Customer Service department. 25 calendar days from the engineering release date or the government inspection receipt. 1. Customer applies for service through builder account representatives.
2. Job is verified by LCEC Engineering department.
3. If designated "temporary to permanent underground" job, it is designed by an LCEC Distribution Designer.
4. Designer determines if permits, easements, or CIAC are needed.
5. Once all permits, easements and CIAC are received, the job is released to Operations.
6. Operations determines if government inspection has been received. Job cannot be worked until the inspection is received.
7. Operations schedules and constructs job to service standard.
Temporary to Permanent Overhead An existing temporary new service to be replaced by a permanent overhead service, they are typically called "swingovers."
Government inspection is required.
N/A 9 calendar days from the government inspection receipt date. 1. Customer applies for service through builder account representatives.
2. Operations determines if government inspection has been received. Job cannot be worked until the inspection is received.
3. Operations schedules and constructs job to service standard.
