Energy efficiency can be worth $17 million! Florida ENERGY STAR rebate program!
Friday, April 2, 2010 - North Fort Myers, Fla.

Florida will launch an ENERGY STAR appliance rebate program for appliances purchased between April 16 and April 25, 2010. More than $17 million in rebates will be distributed. The program is timed to coincide with Florida’s Earth Day Activities. Florida’s ENERGY STAR appliance rebate program will focus on replacing products in Florida homes that provide the state with the most energy and water savings and not already covered by a state or large utility program. Products eligible for Florida’s rebate program are new appliances purchased in the State of Florida for personal use by the customer.

Florida will offer a 20 percent rebate off the retail price of a new qualified ENERGY STAR appliance purchased during the program time period. Rebates only apply to the purchase price of the appliance, not to tax, delivery or installation costs and the rebate amount is capped at $1,500. Rebates are available for the following ENERGY STAR certified appliances and products:

clothes washers

dishwashers

refrigerators

freezers

room air-conditioners

gas tank-less water heaters

While customers are encouraged to replace more than one appliance, they may only receive rebates on the purchase of one of each type of ENERGY STAR appliance per address. In addition to the rebate for purchasing the ENERGY STAR appliance, consumers will also receive an additional $75 if they provide evidence of having recycled the old appliance. Evidence may consist of a statement on the retailer receipt indicating pick-up of the old appliance or a receipt from the local public or private landfill of delivery of the old appliance.

Although LCEC is not associated with the rebate program, we encourage customers to utilize energy efficient appliances. For more information about the rebate and how to apply visit:
