At a time when the economy is challenging everyone, LCEC employees embraced the holiday spirit with a significant effort to give back to the community. “Our employees give generously throughout the year and their charitable giving during the holidays is another indicator of how they make a positive impact on the lives of those in our community,” said LCEC CEO, Dennie Hamilton. LCEC employees donated seven vans full of gifts valued at well over $10,000 to 10 families and others for the holidays. LCEC partnered with the Children’s Home Society who will deliver gifts to each individual family. In addition to gifts, each family will receive a box of food and household items. During the Thanksgiving holiday season, the LCEC team delivered holiday boxes to these families also. And employees didn’t stop there! Gifts and a holiday dinner at a local restaurant were donated to 13 folks at the Salvation Army medical unit and another large load of food to the local food pantry. For the past several months, LCEC employees have been gathering new and gently used toys, clothing and household items for participants in the Children’s Home Society programs. Participants are low-income families experiencing difficult times and not able to provide gifts for their children. Children’s gifts will be delivered unwrapped so parents can wrap them and experience the joy of gift-giving. As a bonus, LCEC employees contributed wrapped gifts for parents so that they have a holiday surprise as well. “I know how good it feels to give and the timing is right for me to do my part. I have no children at home so it fills me with joy to know that some little boy will be thrilled to get the special toys that I picked out for him,” explained LCEC Human Resources Representative Bonnie Wright. |
