The United Way of Lee County announced that it is at 99% of their $8,018,330 goal for 2008. To help them reach the goal, they decided to extend the campaign another week. LCEC has been a part of this effort as it raised and contributed $110,000 in 2008 toward United Way goals in Lee, Hendry, Glades and Collier counties. LCEC is a United Way Circle of Excellence recipient (Raising $100,000 or more) and Pacesetter company (Reaching their goal prior to the beginning of the official annual campaign). LCEC kicked off its 2009 campaign for United Way on Wednesday, March 4, 2009. “In this economic climate, we are sensitive to the increasing needs of our customers and others in this community,” LCEC Director of Finance and campaign chairwoman Denise Vidal said. “United Way and its partner agencies play such a vital role in providing essential services that support and develop people in their time of need; holding a United Way campaign gives us an opportunity to give back,” Vidal said. This year LCEC employees will center fundraising efforts on how our community survives and thrives through the hard-working United Way partner agencies. With a volunteerism focus, we will shine the light on the services that these agencies provide to our customers and others in need in our community. LCEC’s 2009 United Way goal is $100,000.
